Varying Service Costs

Called around my three local dealers for my 30,000 mile service cost this morning. Bearing in mind i had my last service (20,000 mile) in June this year, so its a high mileage oil change, i received some very different costs.

Dealer 1 - £140.00 incl Vat (This dealer supplied me the car)
Dealer 2- £184.27 incl Vat (This dealer had the best price last time)
Dealer 3 - £110.00 incl Vat

Why do there prices vary SO much everytime!!!

Surely it should be a standard charge accross the country!

I think it is because they are complete and utter knob heads. Dealers that is.

Differant Labour rates mainly. Also a little arrogance.

My 2 nearest SEAT dealers quoted £100 differance for a 40k service... £220 v £320. Guess where i went.

For a lube service you shouldn't be paying more than £100 even at a dealer. It is 1/2 hour labour, oil filter and oil.
The only thing that should push the price up is the oil if you are using long life oil (which isn't necessary and a waste of money since you do such high mileage)
