Sorry so sound stupid, ive been reading through threads all over this forum and have heard many talk about VAGCOM. I understand that it is a fault finding software. Where can i get it from and how does it actually link up with the car?

You can get it from Ross tech http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/index.html , you can get a free version or pay for the full version i think its about £150-£200 i think you get a cable with the full version if you go for the free one you will need a cable to connect to the car, the connection port is under the ash tray, there are loads of cables on ebay i think its best to get the usb one.

The real question is which models you wanna work on, if its an older one and you don't wanna do much work on them then the 3rd parts (ebay) hardware may work for you. If you wanna work on more current models there is no way around the real deal. ;)

ive got a 2001 LC, i dont have any probs that i cn see with it, ive only had the car a month or so and just wanted to hook it up to make sure there was no unseeable faults with the car in general.
