VAG COM problem

I've got a USB cable and installed VAG COM 3.12 and 4.09 and both versions can find the interface ok. I get a problem when trying to scan for controllers or use a controller manually. Basically the software tries four times to use the controller then fails. I've tried different baud settings (9600, 4800, 2400) but i still get the same issues. The USB driver is installed properly. I've also tried different COM ports (COM1 and COM4) as well as turning off windows firewall (in case it was causing any issues).

Has anyone else got VAG COM working on USB cable?

i have downloaded the version of VAG COM suggested in the guide. Will try again tomorrow now, i've got to get back to decorating

i just want to check if the fault i've got is defiantely a MAF sensor that is knackered as i can't really afford to buy one for nothing as funds are tight this month.

It's more to do with the USB having the right COM port assigned.
