V5 Starting Problems

Hello all,

I recently bought a 170 BHP V5 and have had starting problems over the last month or so.

About once every few weeks the engine will turn over, but makes no attempt to fire. I usually try several times, but find the only way to start it is to fully depress the throttle. It then splutters for a few seconds and fires up, where it will run perfectly for days.

I would appreciate any suggestions you can offer.

Regards Aaron

Think there's a few threads on this one Aaron and seems a common problem. Is the car due a service and when were the plugs last changed? At the moment I have to give mines just a little bit of throttle to get it started from fully cold. When its warm or even left for a few hours it starts OK. Just had it recently serviced and plugs changed but it didn't cure my problem. One other thing that might help is to depress the clutch when starting from cold also.

If all else fails you may have to get it diagnostic tested.

Thanks for the info Kewe.

The cars not due for service for another 6 months, but its not played up for a few weeks now so I'll see how it goes.
