Well, finally got my V5 at the weekend. I can't keep myself from smiling when driving it. What a great car.

I do however have a problem with the sound system, it seems that when the dealer (or their mechanics) were preparing the car, they decided to disconnect the battery. Now I can't get the unit to work.

The display reads "2 SAFE" all the time, I have left it switched off for over 24 hours and it still reads the same. The manual states that there is a certain time limit that the unit stays in this mode for. Any idea how long it will take to clear?

Does anybody have any advise, or am I going to have to visit a SEAT dealer to get the code removed.

Thanks in advance.
Goose.

Well, if it is like the Aura in the Leon, you have to leave it *swithced on* for some time (24h should be enough ;)). Then you will be able to enter the 4-digit code to get it going again!

Ok, left the stereo on (with ignition off) for nearly 20 hours now and it's still displaying "2 SAFE".

Any other ideas, or is it a visit to a dealer?

Just to confirm what I am doing........

.....stereo is on, turn ignition off (stereo goes off, with ignition). Turn ignition on (after 20 odd hours) "2 SAFE" is displayed.

Thanks in advance.

Well it was a long time ago and I don't have the car around right now, but I'm pretty sure that I was able to have the stereo on ("SAFE") when I left the car! Perhaps your stereo is installed differently? Is it a factory installed standard Seat unit?

I've only just bought the car, but I assume it is the original factory fit.

Can anyone else confirm whether it's standard for the stereo (on a Toledo) to power off with the ignition?

Thanks
Goose.

Yes that is normal on the Aura units. If you read the manual you can set it to stay on if you wish.

OK, there are lots of settings you can do on the Aura, I had completly forgotten that this might be one of them. I guess that these can't be changed in "SAFE" mode so there is a bit of a catch 22 here ;)! Unless you take looooong drives with the stereo on just to run it in ;)? Take it to the dealer!

To leave the stereo on whilst you are not in the car it works like this..

turn off ignition..stereo goes off
turn stereo on again and presto its on again..
just leave it like this.

Your stereo 'remembers' wether to be on or off . If you have the radio on when you turn off the ignition it will be on again next time you turn the ignition on and if your radio was on before you turned on the ignition it will still be on after you turn off the ignition.

Not sure about the 20-24hrs thing ..I may be wrong but I'd heard it was only 3 hrs but thats without looking at the manual.

Hi Stuart.

Yep, well kinda.

The stereo works fine, apart from trying to get Medium Wave stations. The amount of static and noise is unbearable.

CD, cassette and FM stations are perfect.

I was going to start a new thread in the I.C.E. forum, but I don't really want to hassle them with such a paltry issue. (I mean, which ICE guru is going to interested in getting MW anyway??!!??)

I'm really enjoying the car, and I'm still smiling.

All the best

Hi Scott,

I know what you mean about MW. I haven't actually used it yet in the V5, but was the same on my old Audi. Highly annoying when trying to litsen to an England world cup game on the way to work over the summer and the sound keep phasing in and out with loads of distortion !

Cheers,

Goose - I had the same problem with my Radio when I got it. I discovered that there was a problem with the aerial and it was shorting out against the bodywork or something. Basically, I had to change the aerial on the roof which also required me to unhook the headlining to get to the bottom. Bit annoying, but it was the football season and I was missing Radio5.
