I know that this is frowned upon and if someone else posted this I would suggest this was a very bad idea.
BUT
Whats the problem with using used pads that have lots of life left in them after the discs have worn out. What I'm thinking of doing is keeping my part worn DS2500 pads for using on the track as back up pads or for using the first few times on the track so not to wear out a new set.
I have come across this web site that states that new race rotors should NOT be bedded in with new pads and vise versa.

Anyone got any ideas about this?

Hi mate,i was told to use new pads when i went to the 2 piece discs as the old pads, although still had loads of pad on them they would be bedded into the old discs and using them with my new rotors would be a bad idea and wouldnt bed the new rotors in properly, needless to say at the cost of the ap rotors i took there advice, sure it ment another £100 for a new set of ds 2500 pads but then if it ment the rotors didnt get damaged then it was worth it.

My concern would be that if the discs are worn out, was the disc surface level? If there were undulations of bad grooves, then the pad would be in a similar condition and would affect the new disc.

If you're happy that the pad surface is effectively flat, I can't see anything wrong with re-using them.

As said, I like to bed in new discs with new pads - even at the expense of using some cheapies for a couple of hundred miles.

I'm sure Bill will be along in a minute with best advice... :)

Thw discs are shot so presume at least one of the pads are shot too.
Might aswell just stick with what I've always done and new pads and disc.
This article does say if you use different pads to bed in they should be the same compound
