Urgent Request For Help With TIP

After spending hours getting my car of axle stands high enough for me to get under to release the stock TIP I managed to eventually get the original pipe work out. Even that was a tight fit and I'm having no joy getting the Forge TIP in there! There is a metal pipe which is restricting clearance and it just doesn't look possible! Even if I can manage to squeeze the TIP down to the turbo it looks like it will be pinched in the space given. I'm wondering if I have the correct pipe from Forge, it seems to be the right shape and have the correct number of outlets (even if they are in different places to the OE pipe). I'm just worried that I've got the correct pipe. Any reassurances from anyone else who has fitted one would be great as I'm now stuck without a car.

P.S. The pipes on the outlets for the DV etc are all really long, are you supposed to cut these down for clearance?

trace the pipe back to the side of the cylinderhead mate, and unbolt it to give you some movement, its a coolant pipe for the turbo i believe.

Had the sam eproblem myself, i assume your doing it from the top? underneath is a pain

p.s the pipes for the dv etc are fine, supposed to be a bit longer so you can get nice hose clamps around them.

Thanks. I'm doing it from both top and bottom but is still a pain in the backside! I'll try to trace it again but can't see from the top or the bottom. I'll go and look again. Thanks

Update: I can't trace it back and at the end nearest the bulkhead the rubber pipe which is clipped to it actually goes up and into the bulkhead. I moved the other small hard pipe out of the way but this metal one which goes flat where the TIP is supposed to pass just wont budge.

why not try posting in the forge section as they will have more than likely experienced this problem before? or why dont you leave it and sell me your car - please!

The only thing I could find was an allen key type bolt which was a larger version of that which the OE metal TIP was held onto the turbo by. I took this out buut there is minimal movment and the Forge TIp is jammed down there so tight I think it could be stuck - that's how tight it is.
I'll be blaming my tools in a minute

that coolant pipe is held to the block by bolt, which you need to undo. Its at the back of the block near the bottom of the cylinder head

i know the feeling

i spent 3 hours trying to get mine on, and with luck and 1 other person it slipped on

you need to undo the water pipe screw and price the pipes back to give you a little bit more clearence

but is not easy i got so stressed, i ended up punching my front wing and denteded it so i got to pay for that to be put right

if i had to do it again, id pay for a garage that can fit it, to fit it

I'm sure I took the right one out becauise I traced the metal pipe back and felt a bracket as part of it and then located an allen key type bolt below the pipe goining into the cylinder head. I removed this but there's still very little movement and the bracket which I unbolted has come away about 3mm from the block, that's all! It wont budge!

wird, i loosened mine off and it worked.

I remember leaving mine overnight on axle stands cos i couldnt work it out, came out the next day and got it on 100%.

IMO if you cant get it fitted, dont bother its not a worthy mod for 100 squid.

i didnt remove any pipes? granted it was a pain in the arse but it went on ok?

You should have tried fitting mine, S3 TIP in same small place, total nightmare.

Remove the 8mm allen headed bolt that holds the cooant pipe in place then bend it out of the way GENTLY, Mine has had too remain unbolted, but seem fine.

I didn't unbolt mine either but did have to trim the tip down slightly to give enough room for it to fit on.

Thanks guys. At least I know I'm not going mad or that I'm not completely pathetic when it comes to cars!
I tried alsorts. I lubed up the outside of the TIP with washing up liquid which helped get it down but there was no way I could twist it round and onto the turbo. I can see why 'C3 LJG' trimmed his - this crossed my mind. I was losing light fast and needed to get to work the next morning so I fitted the OE pipework back on using the JCS clip up top which I got with the Forge TIP. This didn't take me very long at all so I don't think I can be that incompetent except I did forget to put that 8mm allen key back on the coolant pipe bracket and butter fingers here lost the 5mm allen key bolt from the bracket off the small metal pipe (which goes down to the neck of the TIP where it connects to the turbo). LOL all in all a successful waste of a Sunday but at least I got to work this morning
Think I'll go see someone with a garage and a ramp

You will need to trim the turbo end mate to get it to fit on, i used a pit and while my dad pushed the tip from the top, i pulled it down and tried to secure it that way. managed to get it on after a while of struggling, and scraped knuckles. Then realised i'd forgot to fit the jubilee clip! (numerous swaer words were muttered!) Then took it all of, and refitted it.

Pain in the arse, but imo the car picks up quicker now, and sounds nicer.

dont trim it, tryied this before and fecked the tip. it took just 55minutes to fit mine on my mated ramps at his garage, one ontop one under the car undo the big bolt that holts the metal coolant pipeto the block, then you can fit it in place easily. then cut a spacer to fit between the block and bracket and tighten with a longer bolt, job done, as i said 55minutes start to finish. dont get me wrong its tight but not impossible.

There was no way mine was going on without triming down!

I used the jubilee clip tightened round a cut against that to give a good straight edge a small bit at a time until it went on, would rather trim the tip down slightly than bend pipes out the way.

That's weird. I wonder why my coolant pipe doesn't budge even though I've removed the allen key bolt. Very perculiar.

didn't need to bend it and personally i'd rather do that then trim a silicone hose which will fray. if it needs trimming then it aint a proper job is it.

Yes it is, trimming the silicone hoses ,isnt a problem at all.

cut the hose around the end of a broom handle with a sharp stanley knife, this trick is from THE silicon hose manufacturers themselves.
