Urgent Key Fob Issue - Only my boot unlocks :(

Hey everyone,

I changed the battery on my key fob (all was working well before but the range was a bit pants)

got the right battery (CR2032) and put it in correctly, tried to do it as quickly as possible as I know a lot of modern keys have a time limit (approx 30 secs I would have thought)

anyway! I pressed it a few times and the red LED on the key lit up, I then tried it from my window and the indicators flashed, good stuff I thought!

went to get in the car later, and it the indicators flashed to unlock but none of the door locks opened, just the boot.

When I press the fob to lock or unlock it JUST does the alarm, I have to open the drivers door manually, and none of the others unlock bar the boot even when I press the lock/unlock buttons in the car.

The key still starts the car though

Any ideas?

Cheers

Mike

The key itself will still work as the transponder is matched to the immobiliser, however the part that opens the doors is just a radio control unit.

i would try matching the key to the car again as below, worth a shot.

Try this:

- car is locked
- unlock with normal key manually at drivers doorlock
- IGN ON with normal key ... leave it there
- use NEW remote key to lock the car manually at drivers doorlock
- remove remote key from doorlock
- press "lock" at the NEW key, indicator lights will flash
- then hold the "unlock" für ~3 sec. and indicators will flash long and the doors should unlock
- coding procedure should be successfully finished.

Also strange that your boot even works, i have tried to get this working on my LCR with several different key fob's.

Is it as standard seat flip key that you are using?

Might want to also reset the ECU before trying the match the key again above.
Disconnect the negative terminal for twenty minutes or so.

Been to seat and the had the key re-coded, also found that my electric mirrors dont work anymore but my windows do....

Is it the drivers door control module?

Did you try the ECU reset?. I had an issue with my mirrors not opening and it fixed it. Also check your fuses.
The recode instructions are in the manual and above. I hope Seat didn't charge you too much.
