Urgent help needed Oil leak

Hi Guys

My Ibiza appears to have sprung a leak, every morning there are a few small (around 2") circles of oil under the engine,

I'm booking it in to a garage on Monday for them to have a look and in the mean time I’m checking the oil level every morning and night, the level doesn’t appear to be decreasing and the oil light hasn’t come on so I presume it will be ok to use.

Does anybody know it this is a common fault with 1.2?

I presumed it was somthing along those lines untill i looked under the bonet, the oil appears to be coming from further up the engine and runs down, which fills me with dread but i'm certain it cant be the head gasket its only 4 years old and is showing no other signs.

Oh and the sump dosn't appear to be damaged, any other suggestion.

I haven't managed to yet, it could even be the filter seal thats leaking, i think i'll just keep topping the oil up if it starts to go down until it goes to the garage,

Thanks for your help anyway

yer could be, but wouldnt that be an obvious one as the filter is really easy to see on the 1.2 engine as its just above the alt.

but it will be leaking from the bottom and very very slowly if over tightend or ounder tightend just check its not to loose/tight if its too tight may need a new filter and seal should only be hand tight

Cheers guys,

Yeah i meant from around filter as it appears the oil is running down the side of the engine over the alternator.

ah right that cud be a cheap fix try just doing an oil and filter change cost u about £35 with new oil, filter seal and new sump seal.

if u dont want that then u will need to just try and tirghtening/untightening the filter. but if u have lost a large amount of oil then it might be worth changing it anyway

Hi Guys

Yet another success for this forum, it was my oil filter over tightened and the seal had pinched and under pressure had slowly split.

Also had the timing chain checked at the same time, all fine thank god.

Cheers for all of your help
