HI all,

Urgent help required ...........

Just bin to get new tyres on my standard Leon Cupra 03.
I have always run Pilot sport or pilot sport 2 on 225/45/R17.
They quoted for PS2s 225/45/R17s

When I got into town I noticed they Fitted Pilot Primacy 235/45/R17. Yes I know I should have checked before I left the garage. Gone back to the garage and all closed up for Xmas.

No option but to drive home!!!

Is this OK?? Is there a problem can I drive it safely etc. I've just done 20 miles and they're still on!!

Thanks for any info

235 is only a small stretch I doubt they are going to cause any problems. Just go back next thurs/fri.

Right

Firstly they wont rub at all on full lock. 235 width is fine on a Leon.
Secondly you have a 7.5J wide alloy and they fitted a 8J size rubber so the tyre is bigger than the alloy. Now I am not sure what safety issues that would bring but I wouldn't go belting the car around.

I would get it changed asap.

The invoice states two 225/45/R17 PS2s ........... mostly annoyed with myself for not checking at the garage.

Cheers

Hi there,
Got an Altea TDI140 Sport & have specified 235/45-17 instead of 225/45-17 since its 1st tyre change nearly two years ago. I have done 50k miles with the car now, its chipped to 170, its a company car & I go through tyres as if they are free - because to me they are, average about 6k on the front! I have had no problems at all and the reason I changed was to try and soften the hellish crashy ride - not good driving it all day, I hoped the slightly higher side wall would help & it has, without any noticable affect to the handling. Being 10mm wider, they also help protect the edge of the wheel rim against kerbing, etc. Handles great, rides better, speedo is now only 3mph out at 70. Glad I did it!!

Have you made a mistake with the tyre size?
If not then its only the width that is different, this wouldn't change anything apart from the rim protection as you mentioned
