OK ... so the HID's are in ... and they look SO good...

(will post some piccys of installation later today)

BUT ... now the rest of my lights look PANTS....

So, how do I make them all look kool?

I suppose I could just chuck LED's in everything for £30ish? But I want to avoid the problems that Vicky (Well Stu) has had with her Beeza....

But what can I put in my sides to make them look white rather than yellow... to try and match the super sweet HIDs?

I have philips blue vision side light bulbs that do look a bit better, but still yellow.

Best soloution i have seen is the piaa led bulbs, expensive yet dam bright.

Only thing is that the sidelight bulb location is right next to the full beams and that leds dont like heat and over time may flicker

Those piaa's look good.

£25 ish for a pair? Dosent sound too bad. What size are the Leon sidelights?
H**?

Plus I was thinking of getting the led rear lights.... the ones that are also direct replacments... along with LED indicators.

But im worried about changing ALL of them after the problems VickyM (Stu) had....

but as it's a diesel... the battery should be better... shouldnt it? Or is it not a battery problem? Vicky M(Stu)?

Leon's have 501 size sidelight bulbs, the problem that VickyM is to do with the differnce resistance given by all the LED bulbs
Right

So I want
piaa sidelights (501),
LED indicators front side and rear (Standard sizes)
and dule LED brake lights (?)....

Anyone want to guess if I would have problems with putting these on the diesel Leon?

And will I be able to get the lot for under £50 or would it be more like under £70?

Im not 100% sure about going toe the indicators as they will have a lesser resisitance and you will probably end up with them flashing quite fast.

How do people get round the legal aspect of HIDs? Surely when it goes in for an MOT you'll fail?

Tecnically yes, but everyone i know with them got away with them no bother

Given the government penchant for extracting as much money as possible from the humble motorist I can't believe it will be that long before they cotton onto after market 'illegal' HIDs and start raking in the cash!

I had these, after 3 months they started blinking due to the full beams heating them up too much.

Its probably luck of the draw, my first set did that after a couple of months, but my current set have been on for over 18 months now, and not a problem. Even if they only last 12 months, whats £8 a year ??

Ultraled's now do a flasher unit from BMW which has led indicators if you use this and 4 minimum led indicator bulbs you will not have the problem off the flasher unit seeing too low resistance and flashing a double speed as if you had blown bulb!

Bugger just read there bit in red and it says they will flicker! Are HIDS hotter or colder than stock lights or no difference?

HID's are LOADS hotter... certain makes are NOT for use with plastic lenses (most jap imports have plastic lenses)

If you drive with them on for ten mins or so and park up, if it's been raining, you can see steam cominoff your lights if it's a cold night.

Nothing to worry about on your cars.

But because they get so hot, if they get any type of dust or grease on them, they burn through when they are on and explode, which is why you NEVER EVER touch them with fingers.... or ANYTHING for that matter... :D

What sides are you putting in?

I have LEDs in mine (No, they are not a silly colour) they are white to look right with the HID conversion.... and they run fine. Not had any issues with running either standard or the led sides with my HID's.... :)

Ive got 4 bulb LED types (white as well matey). Only noticed it flickering the other nite when i was behind a van. Just wondering if there was a 501 bullet style bulb that was better. If not im going to chance the LEDS again
