does anyone know where to get decent exhaust rubbers? my blueflame system keeps making one break and the garage said you can get heat resistant ones and that they're orange??

I suggested puting a jubilee clip around the rubber but the guy reckoned it would effect the exhausts felexibility...that doesn't sound right to me??

thanks, Jim

break or melt ?

if its breaking i'd suggest checking its all lined up as that one is getting more stress on it than it should

But as said if its breaking, i dont see what harm a jubilee clip would do, as that would take some of the strain the from rubber hanger, which can asorb any movement, and the jubilee can then take the weight.

it looked like its a break rather than a melt, but i'm sure the heat would be a contributing factor!

i've got re-inforced ones at the moment but I'll give the ripspeed ones ago (they're £5 cheaper than the reinforced one anyway!)

I think this has happened on my car... The Powerflow exhaust sits pretty close to the heat shield at the front (between Cat and Centre box). Shortly after I had the zorst fitted it started rattling badly and the rear rubber had gone, so Powerflow relocated the zorst slightly and things were sorted...

Then about 6 months later, the zorst started rattling at the front under the gear-stick and the mechanic that did my MOT stated it was knocking on the heatsheild and bodywork (the tunnel the zorst sits inside). He did a remedial fix for it by replacing the rubber and all was fine....

Then recently, (last week) it has started doing it again.... I presume the rubber has gone, therefore banging about yet again. I'm hoping it is just a case of putting a new rubber on to stop the knocking... I can't get the car into an exhaust place until next wednesday though (I'm off work that day). The knocking shouldn't cause any significant damage should it? It only does it when the car is turning sharp bends or when just started (cold).

i cant see that it can do any damage, unless the exhaust is now resting on the bumber and melting it or something! but you'd obviosly notice that!

my exhaust has only been as it should be for about 2 months over the last 14 months and hasn't done any damage...except the rear box has developed a constant rattle in the rear muffler...which I calling blueflame about today.
