Upgraded head unit or upgraded OEM head unit

Hi everyone bought my 1st seat, 16 plate 110 fr, only thing is it has the small screen touch screen in it, could anyone tell me if I install a aftermarket head unit would the steering wheel controls still work or is it a case of having to use a better spec OEM head unit? Also how do you uninstall the original head unit? If I did fit a upgraded OEM headunit which one is the top one to get and would I need to change the Arial for the dab side of things, thanks very much for any help I may receive

Hey there, not sure if you already have an awnser but it really depends of the year and model of your car if mine is a 2013 fr as well and i had to buy a radio for him that came with the canbus for the wheel buttons work, i also had to buy a new button console since the oem radio has the danger lights and traction control there and a cable extention to conect it all, and pretty much every things works fine less the garmin unit that in this new radio dont recive power to work

What radio you have? The one with the touch screen included? Or the one with buttons, if you have the one with the touch screen im not sure if you should change it, i got a 10 inch on mine looks good but since is prettt much a tablet on a car, it takes a bit to turn on, unless you pay well for one i think the one it comes oem is a bit better
