Unsure of what power the car has

Hello there!

Ive just bought a 2002 leon cupra 180 at the weekend and its fantastic, best 1500 quid ive spent in a while. Picked it up from a fella that was selling it on behalf of his son and mentioned that his son worked for a racing team and was reluctant to actually mention what exactly he's done to the car. He firstly didnt mention if its been remapped until i drove it and then he said "it must be but i dunno what its been mapped to".

Anyway his son was selling because he had to get an estate (his loss) so it didnt put me off because it had stacks and stacks of service history and invoices, most of them from jabba sport. The only thing missing being any proof of a remap or the exhaust system.

Now for what i can tell has been done to the car:
s2000 induction kit with a heat shield around it
Unknown Remap (it feels like a stage 2 remap because its waaaaay way too responsive and defo pulls harder than 210 bhp most manufacturers quote. i had a 225 tt prior to this and the tt feels like the most boring car ever compared to this)
Forge 007 DV valve
(this one shocked and pleased me at the same time haha) A complete Forge breather system including new plastic breather pipe, Forge TIP and Forge boost pipes however there is no FMIC present so id assume he put a new side mount in.
Its been lowered on apex red springs
And a Powerflow exhaust system but he said it wasnt decatted so i have no idea if its a standard or sports cat under there havent had the chance to get under it and have a proper look yet but it seems fine no leaks or anything.

One thing i can say is that hes fitted a pro sport boost gauge on the drivers pillar, it seems highly optimistic to me as under boost it spikes to 1.5bar (apparently) and holds at 1.3ish after dropping but i doubt its accurate. Will try to see what the torque scan app says it boosts up to.

I will probably have to take it down to AMD essex at some point as im local to them and see whats what remap wise.

Thank you for any input!

Sound like a pretty good find!

I'm pretty sure the Cupra's need a FMIC for stage 2 so it may just be very well mapped at a stage one, weight difference and drive chan in comparison to the TT will make the Cupra feel loads more lively and responsive I would have thought.
Also... Pictures!

I heard fmic's sometimes dont give as much flow, which counteracts the cooling benefits, I may be biased as I dont have one, but if you do get one, paint it black, better cooling when standing!?!! Interesting fact lol

Solved

Fast forward almost a year now of owning it its been a mixed bag of love and hate. Nothing has gone wrong with it apart from common things such as lower control arm bushes, one drive shaft, not so bad.

The map was utter garbage as it turned out, the previous owner seems to have mapped it by the looks of it as I took it to a local place that whacked it on the dyno and did a not so impressive 195 hp and 218 lbft of torque (maybe I thought it felt so quick because the map felt so aggressive). The fellas there said the fuelling was wrong which explained the shocking fuel economy (and there's me just blaming my right foot) and most of the other things weren't set up right at all.

A smoke test to identify any boost leaks and a proper map later my car is making 211 hp and 265 lbft of torque. No front mount yet or decat though its fine now I think heat soak will be an issue in the summer, its been a learning curve with this car so far, not only with what mods need to be done but exactly what it had done to it before hand too.

Its completely different now I've fallen in love with it again, it drives like it should have from day one it holds boost and doesn't spike anymore, it doesn't snatch when I press the throttle, its all nice and progressive now.

Itching to throw some money on some proper mods and clean it up a bit as its very tatty (but functional). I will post a picture once I figure out how to do so haha.
