having read the handbook on my LCR it says that there is no gain from using super unleaded fuel - is this still the case once they've been remapped or do then then need the good stuff???

I always put super in mine and always use shell garage.

the text in the manual normally states that you should use SUL, normal fuel can be used but causes a slight power loss.

it deffo said there is nothing to gain from using SU in the manual but having been remapped it may well need SU - i'll give it a go cause it's deffo down on horses!

what map have you got?
is it generic or custom?

if custom and had super in the car when done then you should use super as its mapped on this basis.
if generic then you can use normal unleaded, but again it would be nice to know which map etc as it may have been set up on the assumption you use super.

PS the manual does say you can use normal unleaded, many on here will swear otherwise, but you are correct that you can use premium. however it would appear to say you may expereience a slightly lower performance. - i take from this that 95 ron is ok, but the figures they use are based on using super.

not sure which map as it had been done before i bought it.
Rumour has it that all the yellow LCR's with reg's beginning GJ02 NN are the first batch that came to the UK, which is why mine is the one they used in all the press releases (i've had this much confirmed by a fella at seat sport uk), the same rumour states that these weren't sold to the public but sold to employees of seat sport, apparently half were fitted with roll cages & the other half had the grey flag decals with the word cupra in red & were rumoured to have had more than 210BHP as standard, & have been played with under the bonnet so i don't really know what has been done to him before i got him or what he's set up to run on but i'm definately gonna try SU now.
i'd love to find out just how much truth there are in these rumours because if they are classed as a rare batch then i have one of each!!!lol

Defected!
Just read this while I was browsing the Custom-Code section,

"You wouldnt see major issues running the LCR on standard unleaded, all the Custom-Code software is designed to run on Super and standard unleaded. On standard unleaded the vehicle may pull a little more timing out.

The octane rating of the fuel is a measure of the resistance against knock/premature detonation,so the higher the octane rating the better the protection."

Hope this helps.
