Hello all. It is MOT time and I am a bit stuck!! My 2 rear tyres need changing but it will be a big service( Belts/filters/fluids) so am a bit skint. Are there any budget tyres anyone would recommend for a cuppra tdi ??? currently use pirelli P nero's but they are ? £100 each.
Will budgets affect the handling much? The front pair are pirellis and about 6months old/75% new
I need to save money but not compromise on safety or handling.
Cheers.

From camskil the cheapest I've had good experience with is the Toyo Proxis 4 (but those are the harder compound 4x4 version), then after that the Marangoni Zeta Linea. I've heard good things said about Avon ZZ3s & reasonable things of the Nankang NS-2 but not run either of them on a car.

Go for the Toyo Proxis 4's, they are much better than that standard Pirelli's. The grip in the dry is superb, in the wet they are still good. On my second set on the front, and they have lasted much longer than the pirelli's.

Go on etyres or blackcircles and have a look, you can get decent tyres around £70-80 a tyre.

Don't get budget branded ones as you probably already know.

I really recommend Toyo T1-R's a lot on here also like the Yoko Parada Spec 2.

I've had Falken and Avon tyres, and hated them both, but thats just my view.

No point going too cheap and having to change them again 6 months later it'll be a false economy mate.

Got Toyo Proxies T1-R on the front of mine, as said before very good in the dry and not bad in the wet either, got Yokohama Parada Spec-2 on the back and they are very good in the dry but lethal in the wet. I had the Pirelli P-Zero Nero on my car from new and they weren't all that great in my opinion, from personal experience on what I have used the Toyo's get my vote and I think they were around £70 a corner :)

Hmm, I've tried a few budget versions and never had any problems. My local garage does Barum's which are made by Continental. I've got Toyo's and Falken's on mine at the mo, not had any problems.

It depends how and where you drive your car. If you're a boy racer with a heavy right foot and enjoy the twisties, go for a well known and more expensive tyre. If you're a bit more sedate, cheaper tyres are perfectly acceptable.
