Need 2 new tyres and have been looking on net. Have used Blackcircles for last few years as good price and local(who I trust) tyre centre fits them.
Previously speed rating has been V but Blackcircles do not have the ones I want in stock at this rating.

Does anybody know the original fitment speed rating for the car. The H speed rating looks ok but I know insurance companies can be funny about the rating.

I never quite understood speed ratings, most mini hatchbacks designed for pensioners going to the post office come with tyres that are rated for 150mph+!! However, I tend to go for at least a V rating, the H rating is a little close for comfort. I did check the handbook but it doesn't list what tyre spec is required.

I'm not sure how insurance companies would react, after all if you're exceeding the tyre rating you're also far above the national speed limit anyway, so they'd probably be tearing up your certificate already!

Have been checking tyre manufactures websites and they give H as an option for the car(if you can find the correct model). Have also contacted Blackcircles who say V as this was original spec. Trouble is as you say not specified in handbook so only option is to go for V to be safe.
Now have to decide on which tyre. Have been running Goodyear NCTS on front but not happy with wear. Had Dunlop sport 01 which were great and outlasted the Goodyears by 50%.
