What is the biggest tyre sizes that you can fit without them rubbing with no modificatons? im going for biggest width for best grip rather than largest diameter, i think ill go for a 15" or 16" rim but again i dont know what width,
Thanks, Will

i had 16x9's on my ibiza with stretched tyres and it was low on the rear, no rubbing and the offset was ET28.

Would 16 X 7 ET40 fit with 205/50/16 tyres or would 195/45/16 be better?

the offset doesnt determine the tyre size as much.

why would u put a 205/50/16 on a 7J rim mate? would look daft, and not handle properly

im getting the feeling im jumpin in at the deep end so ill start again,

I would be fittin good all round tyres, im on bloody van tyres that slide like the road is made of jelly coated in oil,

I dont really know which rims to fit or anything so all i know is i want 195 tyres and 15 inch rims i know that as long as the offset is close ill never have trouble with clearences,

i would ideally be after vw or proper seat wheels even though i really want a good set of high quality rims like OZ or compomotive, i dont think the car really deserves wheels that are worth more than the car lol

again the tyres ill be fitting will be the same story the budget isnt massive, probably a maximum of 300 for the lot

im in NI so ebay is out, no one wants to sell anything to anyone in NI postage is too high, local papers havent had anything even tough ive been lookin since november.

if you able to help me thanks if not thanks for trying.

best wheels imo for a mk2 are either the multispoke gti wheels, or the mk3 cupra ones if you can find them

if you can pickup rims for about £100 then if you need 4 tyres you are looking at around 50quid a tyre from somewhere like mytyres and only about 5quid fitting then

i am biased though as i love the look of my mk3 cupra alloys on mine, even if it is only a 1.4

I would love a set of mk3 cupra wheels for my 1.4. But i cant get hold of a set for a reasonable price. Dont have that big a budget really.

Hi,

Ive got 205/40/16's with the original cupra wheels, they dont rub the grip is superb the only problem for me was finding the tyres, budgets are no good they just dont grip or wont last, after reading i think all the millions of reviews on google i went for the yokohama parada spec 2 tyres at the good old arm ripping price of £85 fitted each!!

Im actually having trouble finding wheels suitable and nice in NI or someone who would ship them to NI, so im thinking about getting some OZ superturismos in white since i can get them for £445, tyres will sting me after that lol its a never ending struggle!!! lol ill focus on finding a new back seat and a set of facelift bumpers first do some overtime at work and pay for them after that.

thanks for all your help and advice

if your going for 15s, i got myself 4 uniroyal rain sports fitted for £140.

195/45/15

they are so much cheaper than 16" tyres, its annoying

But i can imagine getting postage to NI can be a problem sometimes, u find ur insurance expensive over there?
