Tyre Size Recomendation's?

I'm not like you guys...
205/55/16 is the standard size of the standard 16x7J alloys I had on my Leon SE tdi.
I then moved onto 225/40/18 tyres on 18x8J alloys.

Im now planning on having 18x8.5J wheels up front, and 18x9.5J wheels.

What tyre size sould I put on the back? I wouldnt mind a little bit of a strech as these wont be for everyday use.

I was going to use the same size tyre on the front, and was thinking 245/40/18 on the rear's?

What do you guys think? I was thinking that or 255/35/18.

Any suggestions? What have other people done?

If your fronts are going up half an inch, why not take the tyres up by the same? Perhaps drop a profile to keep the rolling circumference the same, IE 235/40/18 or 235/35/18?

I've got to ask though, why bigger tyres on the rear? That seems a complete waste of time on a front wheel drive car, as well as limiting options to rotate them as they wear down.

Will your arches take the extra tyre width, or have you already got that sorted?

Its just for the look really tbh. I know it has no performance advantage at all lol
Going down the "euro" look styling wise, as I said I wouldnt mind a slight stretch, to fit in the arches, but I dont want a riddiculous amount, as too much looks ****.

I am a tyre fitter by trade, so i know about keeping the rolling radius the same, hence 255/35/18, its the same as on the back of BMW's.
