I am wanting to get my tyres looking super shiny (like they are wet) but i cannot find anything that lasts. I have tried Wonder Wheels stuff, Carplan stuff, it seems to last about half a day. Dont get me wrong, they look clean, but not shiny. I am thinking it would take some sort of tyre paint or gel to do this (the motor trade always seem to get tyres shiny, wonder what they use)..... anyone any ideas on how to get 'shiny' tyres...?

Ive tried various products, the latest being what can only be described as Black Ink, with applicator. But as soon as it dries, its no better than before, so i give up. There are a couple of sprays about, but im loathed to spend anymore on this particular product until someone gives me a guarantee that it works !!!

Glad its not just me ;)

I use a tyre foam cleaner too, to get rid of the muck off the tyres.

Hopefully theres an answer out there............ (reminds me of X-Files)

U used to use turtle wax tyre gel and it was ok but never really amazing. Now this will sound strange but i always washed my tyres, let them dry and then put it on. One time i put it on when they were still wet and it gave the best shine ever.

I have now done the same with Meguiars stuff and Autoglym and they all work a lot better if the tyres are really wet

What i wrote is in plain english. I've read it numerous times now and fail to comprehend why you cant understand it, but just for clarification. I used to dry them and it wasnt too good. Now I apply the product while the tyres are still wet. I never mentioned foam in my post. I mentioned three products I have tried and they all give excellent results using the wet tyre method.

I'm using the Meguir's version (not the spray) and it's v good. Still un-sure as whether to get one of these PC polishers for the rest of the car etc

Be careful with this stuff as it can crack the tyre wall. If you use it all the time it can dry up the rubber compound!

I've been using either Autoglym Tyre wassname or Poorboys B&B, both similar in performance. i.e. good stuff.
On the recommendation of RobDon I've just bought some Optimum Tyre Thingummy from Autogeek. Haven't tried it yet but Rob says it's better than the AG or Poorboys.

Does anyone know what the trade use - as everything I have tried never gets the tyres looking like it has just left the showroom.
