Tyre Recommendations

I need new front tyres as they're looking a little worn out.

My current ones are 175/70T13 82S

which Halfords said would cost me around £39 each to replace and fit. I'd like a decent set of tyres, especially since we're right at the start of winter so I wouldn't mind paying a little more to get some nicer tyres.

Any recommendations?

(V reg Ibiza BTW)

Is that for a pair?

They sound slightly higher spec than I was thinking. I was just looking for some decent wet weather tyres

no tyre is brilliant in the wet, but u will need to pay more than a budget tyre to get something better than these crappy chinese nylon solid tyres.

toyo proxie T1 S/R
eagle F1's
Uniroyal Rainsport S1's (which i have and recommend)
Yoko a951s

bout the 4 best tyres at reasonable prices.

you could always upgrade ur alloys an get some decent tyres with them as part of a package rather than 175/75/13's as i dont know if many of the bigger companies will go that small as theres no demand for them at that level.

Toyo T1R's all the way. I had them on my old car, and now I'm waiting for the tyres on my new car to wear out so that I can get them for that one as well :D.

Not too sure if any of these manufacturers make these tires in 13" fitments tho.

For wet weather I've had good results with Goodyear Eagle F1, Toyo T1R & Vredestein but not sure if they're available in your fitment.
Have a look on MyTyres.co.uk or BlackCircles.com

They're not exactly exciting but for something predictable in the wet try Continental EcoContact3 or Pirelli P3000/P2500 @ £80-£100 for 2 fitted.

they were on my old Mk2 when i got it,.. took them off and stuck alloys on so they've been in my shed since :) all the tyres are pretty well treaded and all have trims too! they are just the standard 13's , as i say fella .. they dont really 'owe' me much so yours for a couple of drinking tokens?

Drop me a line on ik[blah blah blah]wallace at gmail dot com, (deleting the bits in square brackets) with your home postcode and house number if you want me to come over and take them off your hands.

Just got back from Brummy's with his wheels. What a nice bloke! Not just tyres, all 4 wheels! My housemate has a Polo with the same tyres, so I'm sure we'll use them all between us.

What I have learnt:

- Sat Nav is rubbish. It was my first try on TomTom from Coventry to South Brum and the ******* thing took me all over the shop. Very distracting, very annoying, not very useful. Paper maps all the way in future. Very nice drive back down the much more sensible route of M5, M42, A46 (at least after I'd stopped at the first service station to shut my boot properly  )
- It's not a Mk2 Ibiza, it's a Mk3, according to Brummy. Nice surprise I guess. I'm in the wrong folder!
- This forum's great!

glad you got back ok ,fella.. :)
but hey, dont tell everyone im a nice guy, I 've a 'reputation' to keep :);)

rep, lol, you keep tellin yourself that :p

sat nav sucks, paper maps all the way.

Trouble with performance tyres is that they are usually a softer compound which means they will need replacing the more you use them. So if your budget isn't the greatest and you dont hammer your car then a nice budget tyre will get you about fine.
