Tyre pressures

Hi All
Ive seen comments on this forum regarding harsh ride from 17inch tyres fitted to Ibiza MK5, I took delivery of my 1.4 S mid Sept 09, really pleased with it, but again ride did seem a little harsh, was it due to the newness of the components?
After about 1500miles I had to drive from Manchester to Hatfield, as wifie was coming I did all the usaul checks just to keep her happy, glad I did as all 4 tyres inflated to between 52-59psi. I adjusted them all to what is recomended in hand book and the difference is fantastic, So much for PDI's Nothing has changed from when I was in the workshop 30yrs ago. Bonus workshops kill customer service!!

I'd agree with you, my ride was pretty hard but i put it down to the tyres, took it in to have a knocking noise looked at and the mechanic stressed to me the importance of having the tyres at the right PSI as the Ibiza really doesn't like having them wrong. Since it's been in the ride and handling has been much better.

spose it's my own fault for not checking the tyre pressures

whats your tdi like i feel i should of waited for oil burner but my lady wanted the yellow 1.4 in the show room, petrol starting to get a bit expensive now, around town i get high 30's on motorway runs if kept below 80mph i get high 40's to low 50's which isnt that bad really, just wondering what your DTI returns

over the last tank full of Shell VPower diesel i got 38.something. round town it comes in at around top end of 30 low 40's, and on a good run i'll see low 50 if i'm sensible. It's let down by my route to and from work where if i hit 30mpg, i'm doing really well.
