Right two questions in one

had the car about a month now, and over the last week the tyre pressure message has come up and not gone, all tyres are at the same psi as i have checked this, faulty sensor maybe?

also will a full size spare fit on the foot well?

I think the Leon uses an indirect TPMS that uses the ABS system sensors to monitor wheel revolution speed rather than specific TPMS valves in the wheels. If there was a fault with the ABS sensors then I’d assume that you may get other braking system related warnings or warning lights displayed as well.

On my VW you need to store / confirm the tyre pressures are correct in the car settings via the infotainment screen; if you don’t, you’ll get a tyre pressure warning message. Pretty certain the Leon uses the same system.

I got the tyre pressure warning message recently when I had new tyres fitted and the pressure in the new tyres wasn’t stored at the time the tyres were fitted. I checked the pressures and stored them in the car settings when I got home and it’s been fine since.

Sorry, can’t answer your second question as I don’t drive a Leon.

Have you checked the pressures and then set them again on the screen? The message doesn't go away on its own

The system is sensing that one tyre is revolving slightly slower than the others, using the ABS sensors, which usually indicates a puncture but could be an oval or warped tyre.

If the sensor was too far out, or faulty, then the ABS would throw a fault but the tyre pressure function is a very small measurement.

Does your TPMS not tell you which tyre(s) are under inflated? My own car is a 2011 Audi S4 and it came without TPMS enabled, but I enabled it, as you might expect it is an indirect system like most other VW Group car using the ABS signals, and I assumed that all it could hand out is a "tyre pressure warning" without being able to distinguish which tyre(s) it was related to! In my case I was wrong as while the flashed up warning came and went too quickly for me to read, when I went into the TPMS area on the infotainment system, to just reset the system after checking and re-inflating all tyres, I was presented with a message that said which tyre had triggered this event - I did not expect that, over the years I've had maybe 3 tyre pressure warnings but have never ever noticed seeing that sort of message, nor was I expecting one so maybe I was just bashing on and resetting the system after sorting out the pressures.

Edit:- maybe I need to provoke a TPMS warning on my wife's August 2015 Polo to see if it does actually specify which tyre triggered the warning, in the latest Audi TPMS warning, the specified tyre was correct and I seem to remember that it said "rear passenger side" when I would have expected just "rear left hand side" as most things in VW Group world sensibly refer to "left hand side" and "right hand side" instead of NS or OS - which change with LHD or RHD.

My previous car - 2016 Polo GTI didn’t specify which tyre triggered the low pressure warning but my current 2020 Polo GTI+ does, as I found out last week when I had my new wheels and tyre fitted.
