type of oil for 1.9 TDI 110

Hi,
I am just about to service my leon 1.9 tdi 110.I went into Halfords and looked up in the book to see what oil I needed and there were different types.I'm pretty sure it is 5W 40.I looked in my owners manual and it says if my engine has "A pump injector system I need VW506 01"I was wondering if my engine had a pump injector system.my leon is a 2001 model.Also on the shelves there are diesel oils and normal oils both with the same viscosity.Does this make a difference?

The TDI 110 is not a PD i.e. pump injector engine.

yep agreed. any boggo Diesel oil will be fine, just get the grade right.

Only problem with that thread is that its 50 million pages long! I know its hard to give recommendations but it can be hard trying to find a decent oil when there's so many types of oil about - even if you know to buy 505.00 you can still get different grades, let alone different brands.

Personally I haven't found a favourite, suggestions welcome

If you dont have a PD then its easy, any 5w/40 or 10w/40 Diesel specific oil is fine.
