only legal way is to have the dealer put a resister in and they register it with seat. You then have to sign a disclaimer saying you wanted this done.
if you take out the bulb how do you know when the other ones fail,i thought a light on ment that no air bags will go off??

Thats one way to get rid of the mrs lol!

:D hehe... its for the possibility of putting a baby seat in the front, as the chuffin ibizas have NOOOO leg room in the back so the base for our child seat means the seat has to go way forward. grrr.

thanks for the info didgy. that sounds expensive if its dealer based. :(

whats involved in disconnection mark?

Pull a plug.... as stated - if you want the others to work, put the right value resistor across it (v easy to do)

Clearly not worth £115 to o it, there's no reason why SEAT have to log it, or why disconnecting it is illegal

To put a child in a rear facing baby seat in the front seat of a car with passenger airbags will be an illegal act from September. http://www.childcarseats.org.uk/law/fromseptember06.htm

That said, allowing a passenger to sit in the front seat of a care with the passenger airbag disabled will invalidate your insurance, unless you have already told them. This is why SEAT want to log it, so they don't get sued by the insurance company.

If the airbag system has logged a fault (and lit the light) it may decide to stop working - there are a number of types of airbag controller which turn themselves off in response to a fault. And that will also get you into trouble with your insurance company.

I could do with know what resistor needs to go across the connectors under the seats, any advise how i would find that out?

Sorry for hijacking.

theothersimon - "To put a child in a rear facing baby seat in the front seat of a car with passenger airbags will be an illegal act from September"

so is it illegal if the airbag has been disconnected though?

Seat will sell you the kit (of a resistor plug and warning sticker), if they don't VW will... It was about a tenner for my Mk3 Golf.
