Turbo not working on long journeys

Mr. Car Carer
When on a long, constant speed journey I find my turbo will stop kicking in. I can still hear it spinning, just not boosting. If i let the car cooldown and start it will be fine. Feels almost like the dump valve sticking so I will phone Forge for a service kit.

Was wondering if there is anything else to consider? Maybe N valve? (Or whatever one the Ibiza comes with as standard).

Can't get on VAGCOM till the nd of this month. Seems to happen everytime i get low on fuel and put more in.

Is the MAF the sensor just behind the air filter? I have a Dynatwist on that is probably a little overdue cleaning.

Yes the maf is behind the filter, you need special tork bits to remove it.

I cleaned my one up and all seems fine now. I have however just ordered all my vag-com bits.

Isopropyl alcohol, IPA for short is what you need really. Evaporates very quickly.

I am guessing that it is 17536 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Mult): System too lean that is the problem, but what would cause this? Sound like the MAF? I have a dynatwist and it is a couple of thousand over due its service.

My readouts were exactly the same as yours - Iam all sorted now!:D

You need to change your Pre Cat Lambda sensor - This will sort the lean problem out. Bout £80 - Speak to dave at IMG.

18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30: Voltage too Low
P1602 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

I had this also but it has gone away since the other problems have been sorted.

01039 - Coolant Temperature Sensor (G2)
30-10 - Open or Short to B+ - Intermittent

Replace the sensor as this throws the car into limp mode. I replaced mine about a month ago.

Hope this helps

cheers

That one usually means your battery has been disconnected recently

Thats what i reckon mate - Like i said i had exactly the same code thrown up and the Lambda swap sorted it. What sort of MPG are you getting?

That explains the Voltage one then caus i kept disconnecting my batt.

It will be a mixture of both to be honest. I replaced my temp sendor before the Lamda had gone and it was going into limp mode. The sendor is defo gone though.

If youve got an ibiza then you will prob need this one 059 919 501A

Hi,

You are probably right but rather than it being dead it is just faulty and sending incorrect values to the ECU.

I bet even though it says its lean its running rich and your geting low 20's in the MPG.

Wouldnt drive it for too long without sorting though mate.
