Tuning guide....

Things dont get dangerous in a LCR until around 350bhp/350lbft where uprating the conrods is needed. Anything below these power levels, the car will handle fine. (However clutch starts to be a weak point when you go above 300lbft)

1st mod is generally a remap, this will take an LCR up from 210/225bhp upto 265bhp (More gain obviously from a 210 car)
Along with that you will need to uprate the dumpvalve as the standard valve is a weak point.

For that your looking at around £550 for a remap, £100 for dump valve. (Jabba, custom-code, revo, APR, MRC, Star performance, are popular choices)

This will get your car to 265bhp/280lbft.

2nd stage is to then think about your induction and your exhaust, a full exhaust system from blueflame (3'' downpipe,100cel cat, cat back oval) will cost you about £600-650. There are more expensive options like miltek and supersprint.
Induction wise, its best to keep the filter shielded so the BMC is popular along with the dynatwist or ramair filters. These cost around £175-200

Then optional, you have the choice of a FMIC (front mount intercooler) Jabbasport/Forge and Pace all have good intercoolers suited for our cars.
Another option is to upgrade the TIP (turbo intake pipe) as this is known to collapse at 5000rpm+ and restrict airflow to turbo.

FMIC will cost you about £750, the TIP will cost you about £150.

This setup along with a stage 2 tweak of your remap will give you around 280bhp/300lbft.

Remap £550
DV £100
Exhaust £600
Induction £200
TIP £150
FMIC £700
Stage 2 upgrade remap £350ish

£2650 to get your car upto around 280bhp/300lbft spec.

The best way to do it is get all the mods done before going for a remap. This means there would be no requirement for a stage 2 upgrade tweak remap as you would get it all done initially.

However most people cant wait and go straight for a stage 1 map as modding is a gradual project and take quite a bit of time.

Then your pretty much stuck there powerwise as the turbo is maxxed out. To go beyond this 280bhp figure you either need nitrous (£2000) or a big turbo conversion (£4000)

But still remembering you cant go above that 350bhp/lbft figure due to the conrods.

Then an engine rebuild (2.5k) and then a bigger turbo and then the sky's the limit for big power.

Most people will stop at stage 2 spec, and then do mods to the brakes/suspension/styling etc.

Hope this helps

Fantastic summary there Mitchy :D That should be stickied!

One thing I would add though, is there is no point in having all that power and not being able to make full use of it. So invest some time and money into your suspension setup, uprated brakes and some good quality tyres too. That will let you make the most of the power you have, making you faster overall as you can corner faster, brake later and harder and have better traction.

For tips on what route to take with regards to suspension, have a look at the Suspension guide at the top of this forum that Ruddmeister created. That's a fantastic starting place for info.
