Hey guys i was looking at gsf car parts catalouge and noticed that they do EBC pads for the TT/S3 but nothing was listed for the LCR. I was wondering if the pads are the same for the TT/S3 and the LCR. Does anyone rate the standard discs with EBC pads. The car isn't put on the track and the other half does'nt drive hard either.

Cheers

Sure that Grant at Westec does EBC Greenstuffs for the LCR, infact I think Neeleyveeley had a set (may be worth a PM).

Or you can have some Galfers left over from the group buy -standard 1045's £40.89 delivered
or fast road 1055's £60.93 delivered
I have a few sets of each left so let me know if you want them.
Both types have the wear sensors

Sure did and they worked very well, after the carbon metallics I'd go green rather than red but the Ferrodo's are meant to be very good as well.

Part No. DP21140 = Greenstuff
Part No. DP31140C = Redstuff ceramic

I have heard that the LCR is a bit too heavy for the Greenstuff and that Redstuff is recommended, but it sounds like neeleyveeley would disagree.

Go Galfer, spent a good half hour on Leda stand chatting to the tech type and lets just say it was an eye opener! the 1045 compound is better than standard even tho its marketed as standard!
how much did they pay you to say that ...

I personaly went for the red stuff. How long would you expect the frounts to last if I am a heavy breaker doing 14,000 miles a year? I would like it to the nearest mile please!! :)

Not saying the red are not better just that having had experience with the harder compound pads they will wear the disks at a faster rate. There is another thread on here somewhere where I did list my findings with about 4/5 pads on the LCR. Greenstuff actually seemed better in wear rate than the OE pads and even Wilko used to use them on his IHI'd Golf. For hard track use go for a harder pad but beware that you will wear the disks and so look to spend a little more money sooner - depends on personal preferance but with me doing about 25k last year I opted for the cheaper Greenstuff which lasted maybe 15k - including some very big stops, OE seem to last maybe 10k or so depending on how close to the backing plate you wish to get

Wear the disks faster, I was hopping that wasn't possible, my first set of discs are down to the min thickness after just 17K miles!!! I have new disks on order and will be using them with the 1055 Galfer pads.

Anybodys guess if they carry the EBC name! I've had a set of EBC Greenstuff disintegrate after 4000 miles, and I've had another set which only half made it onto the car before they fell apart - fitted one side, about to fit the other side, lifted the pad out of the box and the rivit holding the clip on literally fell off in my hand! I'm never using the brand again, lost all confidence in them.

Had my best experiences with Ferodo DS pads.

I've had several sets of green on a variety of cars, and currently have red on the LCR and (so far) have never had a problem.

Guessing you had a bad experience but agree that would deffo put me off big time, as long as you buy something half decent you should be ok though, main thing is they last a little while but more importantly actually stop you!

Had greenstuffs on last cupra r and thought they were cr#p, after braking from highish speed they always seemed to fade, specially on the `ring`. They never gave me much faith after that.
