Trim Rear Bumper for Magnex Backbox?

Guest
hey people

Had my MK 2 Cupra GTI 8V a while but my standard exhaust has finally rusted through so i have already purchased the magnex 6 x 4" oval back box.
on instructions it says gti models will need to trim the rear valance but does anyone know how much needs to come off to fit the beast on???

Kwik Fit said they will fit it for me on thursday but they wont cut my valance so i'm getting the dremmel out but need to know how much to take off as i dont want to take too much off and ovbiously it will be a pain if i dont take enough.

Oh yeah also who else has got one and does it rattle against the rear beam? as iv'e heard a few of them do that?

If not i'm just going to take the whole bumper off and fit it back on after.

had a magnex ystem on my old ibiza and it was silly low, and it used to tap off the rear beam pretty badly, didnt like it, so it came off - but the new owner has it back on and it hits the back axel, and rumbles a bit under the hand brake - very common

Ive got the same pipe and ive done nothing to mine, but then i did fit it like a pro :)

The biggest pain in the ass is the two standard support brackets that run right underneath the handbrake. I had to take the rear one off as the vibration was SERIOUS. Once id done that all is well, the only time it knocks is when the back end of my car piles into the floor..( see post about lowering car too much :p )

mine has come with new support brackets will they be the same as standards or should they allow for the handbrake?

Mate i got one on my Gti and they sound awsome. Dont worry too much about the rattle, the noise it makes when booting it more than compensates :p

sweet you may have changed my mind. you reckon if they cut the axial pipe from the centre box too short thats what might make it rattle or will it rattle anyway
