Trackers

I was led to beleive that all Cupra R's were fitted with a tracker as standard. I am looking at a 53 plated R and the dealer is pleading ignorance? Also I think my insurance company said they would insure me subject to if I remeber right group 1 security device being fitted. If a tracker is fitted would that be enough or would I need to go out a purchase a clifford alarm or something similar.

The Cupra R's have a cat1 alarm as standard and all the early 225's , 53 plate onwards had a tracker (they should have a black folder that comes with it to show that). The last of the LCR's didn't have the tracker I think around 05 plate onwards. The Dealer , if it is a Seat one, should know this!!!
But IMO , the tracker is a waste of time and most insurance companies don't discount there insurance even if one is fitted

Hi m8 i just got my LCR and i have got the Tracker swiched back on! It will cost you £30 to put it in your name and life time is £325, so its only £355 for life thats it.

Also you can only have the basic pack as std, because yours will not have GMS or GPS (If its the std Seat 1).

Or call them on:

Tracker is a total waste of money, I don't think many people on here bother with them. If you had your car nicked would you really want it back after some chavs had been joy riding in it?

The AA said that a tracker only makes a differnce when the cars valued at over £50k i think.. dont know if that goes for other companies though.

Dont think id want my car back after it had been completley thrased though.

Most companies don't seem to offer a discount if you have a Tracker, but some won't insure certain cars without one.

I used to be with Direct Line, and this was their policy at the time.

The girl on the other end of the phone said:

"Yes, we insist on a Tracker for cars like the Scooby WRX, and some fast Fords. Not the Cupra R though."

And then came the best bit..... (and I quote)

"And we ask for them on the MG ZT. For some reason."

It comes down to whether you really think the police are going to drop everything and mobilise a fleet of T5s and a helicopter to find your car (as Tracker seem to suggest with some of their literature photos.)

If there's no insurance benefit, I can think of better ways of spending the cash to improve the security of the car in the first place.

Of course, then they just break into your house and beat you up for the keys instead...
