I noticed the other day that Topgear had the Ibiza in the uncool list??!

To be honest I don't think the Ibiza is cool. Most people haven't even heard of them, so wouldn't consider buying one and don't have an opinion on them either way. I quite enjoy driving something which is a bit out of the ordinary and still quite a rare sight on the road – at least where I live. It's a great little car too!:)

At least it's not "seriously uncool" unlike a certain car on Sunday.

But, for all that, it's still merely an Ibiza with none of the aspirational styling that the Polo steals from the hugely respected golf GTI.

That bit of the review sounds really stupid, its implying the Ibiza FR should take inspiration from the sports version of the Ibiza, like the Cupra....wait it does!

They also have a 911 Turbo, Nissan 350Z , Veyron n the uncool bit, but its done by a really small annoying daytime TV presenter and a really tall man who wears a suit jacket with jeans. Nuff' Said.

I don't agree with most of the 'Cool' list but they are the 'experts' arent they.

Anyone who says that a Renault Clio is a cool car has got to be joking, other than the older ClioSports I hate them. Has everyone seen the new ClioSport, its so ugly and I think they have wasted it, even with 197bhp......

And the Fiat Punto in the Subzero bracket, are they mad.......

I think the whole idea of the 'Cool Wall' is to provoke and annoy people. It deliberately doesn't make sense to anyone else but J.C. and as soon as you think you are starting to understand the rules, he changes them to leave you feeling even more confused and left out.

I don't know if anyone else has heard 'Mornington Crescent' on 'I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue' on Radio 4. It's a spoof panel game where there are no rules and doesn't make sense to anybody else but the participants. I think the Cool Wall is a similar concept.

Huh? I can assure you there's nothing spoof about it! Only those who haven't understood the fine intricacies of the game think it's a spoof.

:)
Yes, well, of course I know it's not a spoof but some people think it is …;)

I met that Sven and Samantha the other day and they were really nice.:)

Ahwell, is'nt there meant to be a next gen Ibiza next year on the A3 platform? I vaguely remember reading something about it in autocar. Lets see what they make of that.

Its implying it should be taking inspiration from it's bigger brother the Leon, isn't it? (polo - golf/ ibiza - leon)

Still!?

The FR is on a par with the polo gti, but its the cupra thats takes it styling from the leon version, the fr is the go between!

I get the feeling that motoring journalists don't live in the real world. They sit in their offices and get to try all the latest cars without having to dip into their own pockets. They are always looking at the next generation of cars so will naturally find the current offerings a bit boring.

I'm not sure what the latest competition is for the FR. Clio or Punto maybe. The 207 doesn't look that stunning inside to me and the Fiesta ST is getting a bit dated now. I can't think of much else which looks fresher. Personally, I wouldn't buy a new model until it was a year old and had had a chance to shake out the teething problems which they all seem to have.

Despite the reviewer feeling that the Ibiza is looking dated, the salesmen at my dealers the other day said that the facelifted model is selling really well and they only had one left in stock. It's obvious from this forum that there is much more interest in Mk 4 Ibizas than previously and there are plenty of new owners here.:)

Same at my dealer, they had none in stock there and they had to order new for me!

Wasn't the WhatCar magazine the one that awarded the Ibiza as the top car for its category for three years in a row? That was not because it was not cool for them, was it? Car reviewers-journalists certainly give ratings from an expert point of view but they also do so from a more subjective, matching their own taste, perspective.
Especially relating to the uncool remarks, this is a matter of personal taste that they may possibly lack of from many Ibiza owners' point of view.
On the other hand let us not forget the Ibiza has been around for 4 years now, so the more the months go by the less cool it will be compared to new releases from Seat's competitors.
