Toledo TDI non-Seat service

First post so please be gentle! Took my Seat Toledo 1.9 TDI to a local garage for its 30,000 service, all work done brilliantly and much cheaper than the official Seat place. Just one problem; the service reminder still shows on start up! A friend told me there is a way to get rid of this without incurring any expense. Is he having me on?

Try this, managed to zero mine successfully...

Press and Hold the mileage reset button.
Switch ignition on (while still depressing button).
Turn mileage reset button to the right for one second.
Display should clear.
Release mileage reset button.
Switch ignition off.
