finally got the servicing finished on the valver and fitted new springs/dampers all round (just finished the fronts). took it out for a spin and in the excitement of being able to tank it round bends at obscene speeds I got a bit aggressive with the gearchange, now I have clunking coming from the front left wheel area whenever power is applied. (yes i've checked the wheel bolts!) all the bolts for the suspension are tight too. if it is the CV joint, does anybody know if one from an 8v will fit as I just happen to have one spare?

CV Joints usually clunk on near full lock round corners, and have a split gaitor.

It could be that a fault in the old springs etc was hiding whatever fault you are now hearing?

Id get the car on axle stands and check all the rubber bushes etc. Also perhaps the engine mounts?

another hindrance to add to the list is that i stupidly drove off with the locking nut key still attatched to a wheel bolt, so at this moment in time I'm unable to remove my wheels! doh!!! and the bolts are hidden in deep recesses on the ronals so i'm not sure how somebody could weld to the bolt to get it out! in the mean time i'll get it jacked up and a poke around the bushes
