Morning. thinking of getting my 04 ibiza cuppra diesel remapped by celtic tuning. Claims of 210 bhp and 320 lb/ft torque. Cost # 300 fitted.
My query is this is it really worth it??? Guessing YES But have read a few threads about slipping clutches!!! What power can a standard fit clutch take. Mine occasionaly slips in the damp weather. Would it make the car undriveable?? Most of my driving is urban. Also what is the effect on economy??
Do not want to pay for a new clutch. Keeping the car til my son is 17 then having to bomb out to a 1.0 L crap car for driving lessons so want to enjoy myself first.
Celtic wil not comment on clutch issues. May add a power air filter to.
Cheers

I have an FR and that is re-mapped and the clutch only slips if your in to high a gear and at to low a revs and u give it a boot full. The trick is not to put your foot to the floor untill your over about 2500 rpm and it will never slip. Had mine chipped for a year and a half and still going strong.

I have custom code on my cupra tdi and it slips occasionally at 2500rpm. Custom code is switchable so I turn it off for a week then it's ok for a couple of months. That said, the original clutch was replaced under warrenty before it was remapped so it might just be my car

Clutches are supposedly good for 300 lb-ft

I reckon if you are looking to push the power and torque up to 210 and 320 respectively, you'd be best considering a clutch upgrade. I guess it depends how you drive but that's starting to mount up some big figures for the standard clutch. Remaps usually improve the MPG but it depends how you drive. The gains are very noticable and are well worth the money...until you blow a clutch/gearbox etc!!

They should be fine but I've heard of a few going on race starts, when the car is running silly torque figures. Just abuse I guess, otherwise there ain't any probs.
