TMC Fault

I have just received my new Seat Leon TDI FR in black. I love it to drive and pleased with the way it looks but I have a really annoying problem with the Sat Nav unit that Seat don't seem to be able to resolve for me. I was told by Seat before opting for the Sat Nav unit with Bluetooth Hands Free Kit that the TMC does work. Upon receiving my new car it has so far failed to pick up TMC information and therefore also failed to navigate me around those dreaded traffic jams.

Has anyone else had this problem or able to offer any advice?

I'd be really grateful!!
:help:

I have TMC on my alpine gps in never picks up any traffic jams, after speaking to alpine they informed me that the TMC system in gen is very poor and it is supposed to be getting updated, other than that the signal is not strong enough that the headunit is picking up this may be something to do with the rubbish ariel that is fitted which struggles to pick up radio 1 in a main city.

Thanks for the advice. However I have to say that I previously had a Pioneer Avic X-1 and that worked extremely well with TMC. It's so frustrating. You buy a £1500 option because Seat advise that it does what you want it to and then there seems to be very little support when it doesn't do what they promise. I rang Blaupunkt this afternoon and spoke to their customer services to try and get an insight. I was advised that the unit is “rubbish compared to the Pioneer Avic X-1 that I had fitted” to my 53 Focus TDCI sport and that “Blaupunkt no longer sell the TMC disk themselves as it didn't work very well anyway”. I was advised that I may be able to pick up a disk from Tele Atlas that would support TMC but it would be a waste of money as the TMC mapping codes (whatever they are) are not reliable. I find this hard to believe as Tele Atlas also provided the mapping for the Pioneer that I had which worked beautifully.

The Leon, lovely drive that it is (must remember that I do love it apart from the TMC issue) has been provided by Lloyds TSB Autolease as part of the company car scheme I'm on. Tomorrow (when I regain the will to live) I will start the process of pursuing it through them to see if they can get Seat to shed any light on the situation.

I’ll let you know how I get on.

Please if anybody has been through this before and can advise I would be very grateful!

Well finaly got there after 12 weeks, my TMC works!!

After several "discussions" and promises made by SEAT UK who initially denied that TMC was ever offered as part of the Sat Nav package [:@] and thanks to a very helpful person (Nigel Jarvis at Fleet Sales Marshall of Cambridge ( SEAT ) 699 Newmarket Rd Cambridge CB5 8SQ) my lovely Seat Leon FR MkII has TMC functionality that works very well. All it took was for the correct CD to be supplied.

I have to say I think the only reason Seat UK finally gave in and did the decent thing is because I had an e-mail from Seat UK customer services reference number 108095 categorically stating that "In response to your recent e-mail regarding the Sat Nav system we write to advise that the system does use TMC traffic guidance" before I ordered the car.

So if you have paid for your factory fitted Sat Nav and it doesn't utilise the TMC functionality make sure you have the TMC disc. See below link for details.

It has to be said that the Pionneer Avic X1 is a far superior product but at least I now have what I paid for! :D
