hi all hows it going?,

can any of you please help me with this problem. the engine light came on my leon cupra, so after diagnostic's it said engine timing retarded. so i changed the belts hoping this was the problem and while i was there i changed the cam belt sensor, just incase this could of been the problem. all was fine, light was out and i was happy until a week later the light is back on and is reading the same fault!! i have no idea and neither do my local garage. i did hear in the grapevines however, that it could be something to do with the variable valve timing unit. can this be?????

:help:would anyone out there be able to shine their torch of infinate wisdom on this matter as i dont have a clue what it is or how to fix the matter

any response would be greatfull

cheers:)

sorted!!

After alot of headache:confused: i managed to get it sorted:happy:
nowhere had any response to my question,:rifle: so i decided there could be an engine knock/tap happenging somewhere in the engine that i couldn't hear while under normal engine idol. I didnt want to go near the variable valve timing unit cause i aint that good:blink: so i went and bought some vibra technics engine mounts and employed the help of a friend who knew what he was doing [B)] after which i changed every jubilee clip, cable tie and any hose that looked as if it needed renewed and/or strenghened, changed the location of in induction kit bracket and tightened every bolt, screw and nut,:brucelee: then reset the fault light on the dash and to this date there has not been a peep out of her, running like a dream since the end of june.

Be carefull though, cause it might be something as simple as your air filter being to small (not specific car kits) and the air/fuel ratio being off. it was a pain staking time for me:wtf: as i even went to the lengths of changing oil pump.

If you manage to get it sorted you should let me know the cause and how you fixed it  just incase mine comes on again.

Best of luck to you
