Hi there,

My Seat Ibiza 1.2 TSI Se DSG, Feb 2012 Registered with 14k Miles on it broke down on its last day of its warranty. Seat garage initial diagnosis Timing chains need replaced, they are now awaiting on tool to check the timing chains? when I phoned to get progress on this the servicing chap starts talking about a possible engine replacement being required but they won't know until tomorrow when they look at Timing Chains tensions.

Does this mean they have stripped the car back and there is nothing the matter with the timing chains?

Any advice or help much appreciated.

Thanks

If you have a full Seat service record, at the first sign of trouble get Seat UK involved as this type of failure is typical with this engine type it seems! Your dealer should be chatting with Seat UK and opening a warranty case - make sure that they are going down this route and just grabbing your wallet!

You should be placing this in the main section of this forum for better visibility.
