ticking noise

i wonder if any one can help me i have a seat leon cupra r 210 bhp 03 plate just below my coolant in the engine bay is a black box i am getting a loud ticking noise coming from it can anyone help as i don't know what this black box is many thanks

The active charcoal filter takes petrol vapours from the fuel tank and rather than releasing them into the atmosphere, stores them until the engine is warm or at crusing speed then the valve is open (ticking) and they're burnt in the engine.

They sound loud with the bonnet up but if you can hear it when sat in the car, you'll need a new valve. I only know this cause i've replaced a few and it does make a difference.

I have a Cupra 03 and I had my carbon filter replaced under warranty in 04. The noise was gone. I occasionally hear the tapping noise now but only at a quarter of the volume. It's worth replacing it
