anyone know what this could be;
sometimes, after say 30mins or so of driving or after being stationary for a long time (with engine running) if im flooring it about, and lift off, either to change gear or just lift off - the engine briefly carries on revving, like ive just put my foot on the clutch, but kept my foot on the throttle
what could that be?

I had a similar problem when i first had my ibiza. the EPC light kept coming on and the engine was reving when i put the clutch in.

they said it was a plug on the throttle pedal that had come loose and so the fly by wire throttle system wasn't recoqnising that I had dipped the clutch.

if i sound vague it's because i don't totally understand what that means. but i hope it helps you

Had the same problem - revved up when changing gear even though foot was off gas - eventually the EPC light came on. Checked with VAG-COM - clutch pedal sensor, implausible signal - replaced under warranty.

ive just had a look in my lunch break and i think its my fault!!
looks like my stereo wires (mounted underdash) have pushed the switch and wiggled it out of its hole for the clutch. ive put it back in but il have to try and sort the wires this weekend so they are totally clear of the area.
Ill see how it is on the way home,
cheers for the input people:)

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but my EPC came on yesterday after the wife had driven.

She's only just passed her test so is still a bit "clumsy" with the clutch accelerator, I know the EPC means that there has been a fault with the accelerator, but what exactly was it trying to tell me?

I drove it this morning and it went off after about 2 minutes and is okay now... :confused:

the epc is like you say throttle related. i think the clutch sensor that was wrong with mine could also cause it to light up.
If its off now, then i wouldnt worry, but it may come back, if it does i'd either have it check using vagcom or if under warrenty drop it in for a chack. chances are that if the light came on - there will be a fault logged.
Hope that helps
