Thought id post this here aswell as the vagcom section incase any other mk3 owners have had the same problem.

I was out the other night in the car and all off a sudden the engine dropped to idle speed and wouldnt rev above 1k the ECP and also the engine managment light is on, i managed to get to where i was going luckly just around the corner. After the engine had been off for about an hour i restarted the engine and everything was ok but now its back to how it was the other night.

Ive taken the TB off gave it a clean with some IPA and refitted and if anything its worse the revs are all over the place on idle and more often than not it stalls on its self.

These are the codes im getting, im pretty sure it points to a duff TB but wouldnt mind sombody confirming before i buy a replacment.

The throttle body is the mechanical side of things...

Its saying Throttle body actuator, which in my knowledge is a device which turns an electrical input signal into the mechanical output... I.e. opening or closing the TB...

Is there a seperate actuator to the TB itself?

But if its one complete unit, then yeah it seems its ****ed... Basically not knowing how much its opening/closing to keep the car running correctly.

That im not sure off, i did wonder somthing along those lines myself.

My thought was that vag com calls it the throttle actuator where as we call it the throttlebody.

Fitted my working TB yesterday and it hasnt made any differance at all, It will idle fine for a few minutes and then the revs will jump about all over the place and it sounds like it wanted to stall on itself.

When i try to do a TB alignment it just shows error in the last box, What i do find strange is that when you first turn it on and start the engine there is no lights and the engine idles fine it isnt until a few minutes after or you give it a blip of the pedel that the EPS light and somtimes the traction light will come on and it will start to rev hunt :( turn it off and then on again and its back to normal

Its bought up these codes now after fitting the new TB.

Just another thing,

Where abouts will i find the pedel sensor, on the pedel itself? What about replacing it, New pedel?

Am i right in thinking that the throttle valve controller would be the pedel?

Not sure how this would stop the throttle body aligning itself tho?

Just had a search threw the ross-tech site and it keeps pointing me back to the TB, thing is im sure i can hear it click when i blip the pedel, which leads me to think it may be a wiring issue?

check the wiring from the throttle body back mine was all f**ked there was a little yellow wire on mine that was routed around the circle of wires instead of through the block and check if there is actually a signal gettin through you can do it on vag-com but some1 done this for me as im **** with computers thats what was up with mine but its worth a try
