Those "big mouth" cupra R bumper's

I'm sure i've seen one or two on here, where the number plate has been moved, either relocated or made into a sticker, and they have the whole mouth of the bumper open. i took my plate off to have a look behind it, but found that there was the big lump of extra bumper behind the plate. How can this be taken care of, does it have to be cut out, and smoothed off nicely, then some different esh put in place?
Also, can anyone who's done it, post a pic?

The grill is only upto what you see. The number plate mounting bracket is a lump of plastic which would need to be taken off along with the grill and replace with a new grill youve cut to fit so wont be completely orginal looking but Robdons does look good.
