Hi

Thinking about changing my beloved mk3 ibiza cupra for diesel version, And i was wondering what you guys thought?

Out of the 3 tdi's in the vag range......ibiza cupra tdi, leon fr tdi150 or the golf gti tdi150, which one would you people choose. Just my brother has just bought a very nice golf gti tdi and it is very nice and with extra mpg it does im kinda might convert to a diesel and i was suprised how fast it is. The mk4 ibiza cupra tdi seems very nice but not sure:whistle any thoughts on this post them:D

IMO and from people i have spoken to, its only really worth getting a derv if your doing high mialge motorways etc... Also the price of diesel is getting abit silly now.

Fuel in general is a joke these days.

a diesel will struggle to warm up properly - same as your Ibiza over 15 miles

so you'll be not doing the mileage to appreciate it.

smaller capacity petrol engine might do the trick for shorter jounries

yeh it will a bit.

BUT it'll cost yo to replace your car, it'll cost mroe to service AND diesel costs mroei n the first place at the moment (might lower in the sumemr when everyone stop using it for heating!) so you need to do galactic miles to really make it worth it.

say 40mpg in a diesel @ £5 per gallon over 8,000 = £1000 of fuel

say 28mpg (which is what i get in my cupra) in a petrol @ £4.80 per gallon over 8k = £1371 of fuel.

So you save about £30 a month on fuel....

But the thing is - if you shell out another few K on a car it'll take you years to get your investment back if you are that worried about the £££.

Hiya no info on the Golf but my boss has an 05 plate Leon and it leaks like a sieve!!!
No little about the new shape other than reviews and all a bit biased against....stiff rough drive/ride. If space is no issue get an ibiza loads of disguised fun as from the front people think it is a 1.2 ha ha ha
