Hi all
Aint been on here in a while
Used to have an Ibiza Sport and a Golf V5
I am currently looking for a new car and a local Toledo V5 has taken my eye
Just wondering if any guys had any advice, good or bad, plus anything to look out for
I have owned VAG/Seat before, and am aware of the usual things ie MAFs. Also a little research has pointed out that the sumps are susceptable to damage, and a/c compressors. Anything else?
I am going to have a look at this car tomorrow hopefully. Its a 99V (150) and I have already got the guy down to £2250, which is a good price I feel.
Any specific buyers guide on here you can point out?
Cheers in advance.

You've probably got a good idea anyway if you've had a Golf V5. At least you know the type of drive you'll be getting. Very few of the 'niggles' are desperately expensive in the overall scheme of things. MAF is the obvious one and accounts for what seems like 75% of performance/starting issues. Lamda probes are another fault (though mine have been OK). Brake switch failures again are fairly common - but replacement switches should have an uprated design. Check for issues common to all Leon/Toledo engine types eg water in footwells (check pollen filter cover fitted correctly and door seals OK - search on here). Minor issue is wear on interior pull handles (I swapped mine front to rear for cosmetic reasons).

Basically a decent Toledo V5 is very well specced and should serve you well. It is a very refined cruiser yet it provides stealthy power when you need it without being boy-racer material. Consider a remap to 170 bhp (this gives the 10v the performance of the later 20v while retaining the torquey attributes that some preferred in the earlier model).

Cheers for the reply.
It turns out the guy has already p/x'd this car at his local dealer yesterday for £2100, so this one has gone.
Plenty more, I'll just bide my time and see what comes up, be it Audi, VW or Seat!
