Think I can hear an air or vacuum leak...

On the Passat, I can faintly hear what sounds like a air or vacuum leak. (It might be some sort of rattle, not completely sure).

It's very consistent though.

If I'm cruising with no or hardly any throttle, I can't hear anything untoward.

But the slightest throttle application results in a quiet leak/hiss sound, when I lift off it stops. Actually there's probably a second or so delay each way - IE starts slightly after I press the throttle, stops slightly after I lift off.

Any ideas what this might be ? I was thinking the delay could be a clue, perhaps a leak in the VNT or EGR actuators.
Engine is boosting OK as per my other post, maintaining around 1.34/1.35 bar.

Guess I have to learn about N75s and things now, rather than the all-in-one box that the Ibiza had :)

I don't think it's the turbo, have to say I'm not 100% sure though...

I think I have separate N75 and N18s...

The good thing is, Haynes have just released a manual for this car and I've ordered a copy, what a novelty !

Unlike the Ibiza I actually need tools to get the engine cover off...and it's cold, dark and wet outside...and I should be focussing my efforts on prepping the Ibiza for sale.

Fancy a Mk4 PD130 Stew ?
