Whilst driving back from Awesome tonight in the freezing fog, snow, ice and anything else on the M6, was told I had no Brake Lights.

Thanks to Al (Transporter) who followed me home closely behind me.

Called out Seat Assistance aka the AA who actually arrived 20 mins after the call was made.

Apparently the Wiring Loom to the Brake Lights has corroded due to ingress of water/condensation.

Car was new in March 05, so an urgent trip to the Dealer to try and get it sorted.

Happy Days

I've suffered full brake light failure before (not on Leon).

Top tip is to switch your high intensity rear lights on when you brake. And off again when you are not braking. Not quite as good as the real thing, but works well enough to avoid people running into the back of you as you get the car home. :)

Nothing to do with the brake light switch then attached to the brake pedal then?
Thats what caused my brake lights to fail except mine stuck on perm and had to pull the fuse to prevent a flat battery.

Couldn't believe the number of cars today driving in heavy rain (was snow yesterday so I'll take rain in preference) on the M25 today bloody idiots.. even those to the other extreme leaving rear foglights on are also tw*ts as well.

Well just picked up the car from Premier leek, and yes it was the brake light switch after all. So the AA man got it completly wrong mistaking white grease for corrosion !!!!.

So all sorted and i was really impressed with premier leek from start to finish. They offered polite and efficient service and valeted my car as well. Job well done.

Good phil, tbh i would have been surprised as takes a few years for them to corrode, but did not know if your painting escapades had helped :D ;)
