.........for those who may remember I recently had a new turbo after mine gracefully snapped the turbine shaft. After the turbo was replaced my boost was coming in late, I was down on power and turbo lag poor.

I went to the nth degree to prove this was the new (garret oem VW supplied) turbo -- and eventually the garage also agreed with me (although the parts distributor nor the garge nor local seat had ever heard of a new turbo not working).

Today they removed the turbo. They laid is beside the next replacement one and immediately noticed that the VNT actuator (the vacuum camber) was distorted/collapsed. Becaue is had sunk in about 3-5mm on one side, the full VNT operation wasnt complete - hence the issues I was getting.

The mechanic was convinced this didnt look this way during install they even believe it drove 100% fine during their test drive -- but from the moment I picked it up it certainly wasnt right.

But now with the warranty exchange its back to full power and a dream to drive.

Took a pic of the offending item, you can see how dropped the actuator top is on the left hand side -- but no real external signs of physical damage/droppage.

All's well that ends well................
