The most annoying squeel ever - can't work out what!!!

Hey,

I've posted on this before, but no one was able to help me and it's the worst it's ever been so could do with some help. It's also in the garage tomorrow, and I'd like to be able to point them in the right direction.

My car squeel like mad. Sat in the traffic it's the worst, as the car doesn't go above 20mph. As soon as it does, the squeeking stops. Between 15-20 it gradually quietens.

When I press the brakes, no matter what speed, the noise stops. Yet, I've had the brakes tested at Nationwide AutoCentres and they have told me nothing was wrong - apart from a not working as well as it should be its ok caliper. And if there was anything they could get out of me, I'm sure they would of.

The squeel does have a rhythm to it. Da da daaaaa. Da da daaaaa. Da da daaaaa.

So weird. Any pointers at all, however random?

So it squeels at idle then? From how you've described it, it sound like a loose belt.

Mind you if it's brake related, have you had the ABS pump checked out?

Not at idle no. Sorry if I've confused. It's between 0-20mph whilst in movement!

Not had the ABS pump checked out. That's something new to think of, so thanks for that

It's worth a go, especially if the noise is non-existant at any speed when the brakes are applied. I hope you find the issue soon, I appreciate it's driving you mad, it would me.

It's as embarrasing as it is annoying. Driving along with a car that sounds like a C Reg Cavalier.

Just would like to fire some suggestions at the garage tomorrow to try and help!

Mine is doing this. Even after changing brakes and pads. It's on the rear and when I am doing about 10 mph but stops when I apply the brake. It's like a slow whining sound when I am stop start in traffic. Any ideas?
