The dreaded rattles....

I've read about other people experiencing the same annoying rattle I seem to have thats coming from the vent area near the windscreen on the centre of the dash near the remote sensor or whatever it is.

Is there really anything I can do to stop this? Would the dealer even attempt to fix it or are they likely to make more rattle if they tough it!

Also, I get alternator whine or noise coming through one of the front n/s speakers, I presume this is a bad ground or other connection? Again very annoying but it's not constant. Again, wondering if the dealer would do much about this, it's a fair trek to a seat dealers but I'll be popping down to Devon in a week or so so might go to one down there........

Rattle

are you sure its from there, as i thought i had that rattle and it turned out to be the little vent thing behind the interior light in the front, what i have done in the past is take the offending item out carefully! and then use a bit of thin material cut to fit to put between the two items (obviously hidden) and hey presto rattle stops, the dealers i have found can be good at finding some rattles and useless at others

Sounds like the trouble I have been having, it was a brake pipe not attached to its plastic clip on the bulkhead and the pipe was chattering on the bulkhead, once this was fixed I was rattle free! I wonder if you left it long enough the brake pipe will wear out and the brakes will fail, could this be a future recall for Seat!!

i'm about to go out in the car now so i'll check. I take it there is a clip there to attach it to or do i need to get a clip for it should it not be attached to the clip that should be there?

well, just went out and investigated and low and behold there was a plastic clip next to 4 cables/pipes so stuck the cables in the clip and closed it.

Been for a drive and so far no rattle.

Thanks!

I found this fault plus the clips that hold the sound insulation under the bonnet are evil !
The holes for the insulation were a bit too big and this meant they were rattling too ! [:@]
I removed the clips and sound isulation all together, that cured it...but check the washer bottle cap isn't a rattle source, or the clip around it for the power steering pump fluid pipes...(Where will the searches end ???)

Yes I have clips under the bonnet holding up the sound deadening that keep falling away, also does your sound deadening keep omitting a white powder as if it is covered in salt as mine does?
