Well after months of neglect and growing to hate the car i contemplated selling it, but deep down i knew that nothing would quite be as good as the little Cupra as an every day "sensible" car.
After buying all the bits and going to tackle the job myself i had a few problems and bit the bullet and dropped the car off at Jabba on Sunday.
What started off as a simple manifold change has kind of gone out of hand
new IHI manifold, downpipe and front pipe
new VF34 IHI turbo
new full set of Bill's uprated engine mounts
water injection being fitted
remapping to suit above
I am hoping the car will be massively transformed from what it was (and as Bill will confirm the car was a true weapon before with good spool up and pulling hard in the high revs) and now i've added a roller bearing turbo it should spool a bit better. Jabba say the map on mine is quite old and combined with new turbo, new downpipe and a remap on there new rollers should see a bit of a hike in torque and the WI will help in the summer too to keep temps down
Also having the suspension checked as its knocking a bit so may end up having new bushes and maybe new suspension.
Also in a few months am having the box uprated and rebuilt with a new diff and clutch and maybe some ARB's
Big thanks go to Jabba for being so helpful and helping me spend treble the money i wanted to and hopefully i'll have a big smile when i get the car back
Also big thanks to Bill for egging me on to spend lots of money - i told you i would end up spending lots of money, all i wanted was a sensible car But honestly thanks for all your help with everything oh yeh you'll be glad to hear i have worn out the discs and carbon pads in 3000 miles so i think we need to talk about brakes options sometime soon!!!
I will hopefully (finally) attend a midlands meeting sometime soon and show a few members what a true IHI car goes like.
I also need to get my wheels done matt black (my front wheels have been destroyed by the carbon pads and are permanently black and can't wash them )
Also i'm thinking of respraying the whole car a matt carbon colour so i don't have to wash the carbon brake dust off it ever again.........
Oh well it's all good fun
