Myself and the recovery driver both looked in the engine for blown hoses, couldnt find any. The biggest give away was all the oil sat inside the exhaust and the fact no oil was left in the engine.

And yes this is my first turbo car

Its only done 22,000. Calling Seat in morning. think i should be ok for the work to be done on the warranty as it runs out in march. Just gutted. Love the car, only a referance but has the bodykit on it and looks the dogs danglys.

Hoping i'll be back on the road soon, not sure how long it takes to sort a problem like this out.

Just hope i get a courtsey car as i work on search and rescue and need a car for work as i am on call alot of the time.

First turbo car.....

Have you by any chance been driving the car hard within the first 20 minutes of driving?

Have you taken it easy/ allowed the car to idle for 30 seconds before switiching off?#

Has the car had its oil changed at the correct intervals?

I live on a main road so its not always possible to allow the 20 mins to drive slowly. Often have to pull away quickly. Also because of the nature off my job i often get callouts and have to be at work asap so have to drive at a fast but safe speed to get there, its a matter of life or death so that is my priority, but at all other times i always drive carefully and allow my engine to warm up.

As far as im aware the oil has been changed at the correct inervals, at least thats what the service book says.

As for the 30 second idle time for some reason i did that when i had none turbo cars. Now i think off it i dont know how i got into that habbit, think im a little weird now ha ha

How long is each of these journeys ? Can you not get it up into a high gear ASAP .....then you can drive "fast" but not particularly high engine rev's ?

Okay.

I wasn't having a dig btw, just trying to figure out why a turbo would fail at such low milage.

Pulling away fast in 1st and 2nd isn't so bad as even at high RPM's in those gears the turbo doesnt get worked much IIRC.

But booting in 3rd and 4th from cold means the turbo is often at full wack - when the oil is cold that can cause problems.

i think mines more expensive because its the non pd turbo origionaly??? but i thought that was a bit extreme!! lesson learnt though!! check my oil level like every 5 minuites now lol!!

my turbo actualy went due to no oil in the engine!! the dealer says the oil filler cap was loose but me thins they didnt want to pay the repair bill! i think i mite have noticed a big mess if the filler cap was loose!!!
